The LUXE reads as plush-leaning medium — noticeably softer on the surface than the standard Sleep Republic, without losing the underlying hybrid support. That’s the whole design brief: the pillow-top and extra comfort foams absorb your shoulders and hips, while the 7-zone springs underneath stop your midsection from sinking. It’s the “sink in, but not through” feel most people associate with a good hotel bed.
Side sleepers: this is the standout use case — the plush upper layers take shoulder and hip pressure that firmer beds leave hanging. Back sleepers: very good, with the zoned springs holding the lumbar curve. Stomach sleepers: the softest option in the range may allow slightly more hip sink than you want; the standard model or a firmer brand is the safer pick. What does “7-zone” actually mean?
The spring unit is divided into seven sections along the length of the mattress, each with different spring tension. Firmer zones sit under your hips and lumbar region where most of your weight concentrates; softer zones sit under your shoulders and knees so they can settle in. More zones means more precise support — the standard Sleep Republic uses five, most competitors use five or fewer.
Is the LUXE good for back pain?
It can be, but it isn’t our first pick. Zoned spring support is genuinely helpful for spinal alignment, and side sleepers with back pain often do well on a plusher surface.
