Best Hybrid Mattress Australia 2026: 10 Ranked by Score and Fit

Hybrid Guide 2026

Best Hybrid Mattress Australia

Nine spring hybrids, ranked on our review scores and matched to you by sleeping position and weight. There is no single best hybrid, only the best one for how you sleep.

Updated: October 2026 9 hybrids ranked 10 min read

The short answer. The Luxara Platinum and the Sleep Republic LUXE share first place on score. On fit, it depends on you:

All nine pay us a commission; Sleeping Duck, Origin and Emma do so through Skimlinks, an affiliate network.

How we rank hybrids

A hybrid here is any mattress we score with springs under its comfort layers; the all-foam Koala, Ecosa, OneBed and Ergoflex are out, as are unscored hybrids such as the Luxara Classic. We rank on each review’s published overall score, to one decimal, so two mattresses showing 9.1 are equal; edge support, one of the main things springs add, breaks ties, and mattresses level on both share the place (#1=, #5=), listed alphabetically.

Our scores come from analysis of verified owner reviews, independent awards, published specifications and warranty terms; we do not physically test mattresses. Who each fits comes from its firmness, by our firmness calculator‘s rule; commission plays no part in either.

By Fit

Which hybrid fits you? By position and weight

Fits means the firmness sits inside the range our firmness calculator suggests for your position and weight; the next two columns are half a point firmer or softer than that.

Swipe sideways to see every column.

SR = Sleep Republic. Firmness is the brand’s number where it publishes one, otherwise our review’s (Luxara and Origin use ours, as the calculator does). Sleeping Duck counts where either set-up fits, to its 140 kg warranty limit; Emma stops at 100 kg, per our review. Back pain pulls the range towards 6 to 7.5.

The Picks

The nine hybrids, in detail

#1= Joint first
Luxara Platinum hybrid mattress

Luxara Platinum

Level with the LUXE, and listed first only alphabetically: two layers of springs under a 10cm pillow top.

9.1
Overall / 10
9.3
Edge support
  • Built: five-zone micro and pocket springs under a wool-quilted pillow top, gel memory foam and Dunlop foam; foam-encased edge. Made to order in Australia, Luxara says, and delivered flat.
  • Feel: Medium, 7–8 in Luxara’s words; about 7 in our review.
  • Fits: back sleepers up to 130 kg, stomach sleepers up to 100 kg, side sleepers over 100 kg (60–100 kg if you like it firmer).
Trade-offs
  • No ProductReview.com.au listing, so no large pool of independent owner reviews behind the score
  • One of the dearer mattresses here; the warranty treats impressions under 35mm as normal and is void if you skip rotation

  • Fits: side sleepers up to 130 kg; back sleepers under 60 kg (60–100 kg if you like to sink in).
Trade-offs
  • Too soft for a firm feel or for stomach sleepers over 60 kg, and dearer than the standard Sleep Republic
  • A 12-year warranty, where Origin gives 15 and Yinahla 20; built by vetted manufacturers in China, in Sleep Republic’s words

Hybrid vs Foam

Springs vs foam: what changes?

  • A firmer edge. Seven of these nine score 9.0 or more for edge support; the all-foam Koala, Ecosa and OneBed score 6.8, 6.5 and 6.0. Emma’s 6.0 shows the build matters too.
  • Airflow. The LUXE (9.2) and Emma (9.0) have our best cooling scores, against 8.0 for Ecosa and 7.2 for OneBed.
  • Motion varies. Yinahla (9.5) and the LUXE (9.2) isolate movement well, the Peace Lily less so (7.5); the all-foam Ergoflex scores 9.5 and Koala 9.2.
  • Weight and one feel. Steel is heavy (a Sleep Republic Queen weighs 49kg, per our review), and only Sleeping Duck here can change its firmness; the all-foam Koala, Ecosa and OneBed flip or swap layers.
FAQ

Hybrid mattresses: common questions

What is a hybrid mattress, and is it better than memory foam?
A hybrid puts springs, usually pocket springs, under foam, latex or a pillow top: the springs carry the support and edge, the top layers set the feel. Neither is better in general: a hybrid usually suits hot sleepers, people over 100 kg and anyone who pushes off the edge to get up, while all-foam suits still sleepers who like to sink in and must carry the mattress themselves.
Who should skip a hybrid?
Anyone who must move the mattress alone, wants to change the firmness later or loves a deep memory foam sink is usually better off with all-foam. Check base rules too: Sleeping Duck’s warranty excludes sprung and adjustable bases, Peace Lily’s ensemble and solid ones.
Are hybrid mattresses good for back pain?
They can be, since zoned springs firm up under the hips, but firmness matters more than spring count: in the trial most often cited (Kovacs and colleagues, The Lancet, 2003, 313 adults with chronic lower back pain), medium-firm did better than firm. Our back pain guide puts the Yinahla Premier Luxe and the Sleep Republic LUXE joint first. This is not medical advice; see a GP or physiotherapist about persistent pain.
Are hybrid mattresses good for heavy people?
Usually better than all-foam: springs resist sinking and keep the edge firm, though heavier sleepers also need a firmer feel. Over 130 kg, the Sleep Republic ES, Sleeping Duck (to its 140 kg warranty limit) and Origin fit back sleepers, and the ES stomach sleepers; Sleep Republic’s FAQ gives 250–300 kg combined as a general guide for a Queen. See our heavy people guide.
How long do hybrid mattresses last?
The warranty is the clearest guide: here it runs from 10 years (Luxara, Sleeping Duck and Emma) to 20 (Yinahla). Check the sag threshold too: Peace Lily covers dips of 2.5cm or more, Emma dips deeper than 2.5cm, Yinahla and Sleeping Duck dips of more than 30mm, and Luxara treats impressions under 35mm as normal. Our trials and warranties guide has the fine print for all twelve brands.
